The Maintenance Services Training Program (MSTP) is a new Ottawa Mission work-based learning program designed to provide instruction and hands-on training for people to become building superintendents upon graduation.
It is modelled on the Food Services Training Program (FSTP), providing theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and the required certifications for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to secure employment in this sector.
The program features theoretical and practical instruction in minor repairs and maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, fire safety, janitorial skills, WHMIS, and more; all in a specialized off-site training facility and across Mission-owned buildings.
Note: Applications for the January 2025 cohort have now closed. Please check back soon for updates on our next cohort, planned for the beginning of Summer 2025.
