Shawn stands proudly at his graduation from our Food Services Training Program (FSTP) and shares:
“I was living on the streets last year at this time… just right across the road.”
But Shawn wasn’t someone who had just recently fallen into hard times; only needing a job or an affordable place to lift himself out of homelessness. For many years, he was on and off the streets, in and out of jail, and grappling with substance use.
So, Shawn joined and completed Stabilization and LifeHouse, two of our abstinence-based addictions programs. Feeling like he had regained some solid footing, he was then ready to move into a place of his own, and our staff placed him into a Mission-subsidized apartment.
Thanks to your support, Shawn had all the resources he needed to find success in housing.
