FROM THE OTTAWA MISSION FOUNDATION
“I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” – Etienne de Grellet, a Quaker Missionary
At The Ottawa Mission Foundation we see the tremendous generosity of this community first hand through your donations, particularly during the Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. We are very grateful for your support at these times, and all year round, because you allow us to continue to fund vital programs and services to support people who are homeless, hungry and hurting in our community.
With these gifts, we often receive notes of encouragement and support, and these mean the world to us. We recently received a handwritten note from a teenager named Jordyn, and we’d like to share part of it with you. Jordyn entitled her note “a letter from the heart”.
Jordyn found an envelope from us open on her kitchen table, so she took a look. She was moved by what she read. As her note reads, “I just thought that everybody deserves a home and a good meal on the table…. What I donate may not be much… but it’s enough to give someone in need a hot meal. God bless you for doing this for the people in need in our community.”
Jordyn did not want to miss this moment to show compassion and kindness. She enclosed a gift of $4, and for that we are beyond grateful, and very humbled.
And we’d like to echo back to Jordyn, and to all who support our work in whatever way they can, “God bless you for doing this for the people in need in our community.”
May the peace and blessings of Christmas be with you and your family.
