Coordinator of Mental Health Services

JordannaMOur dedicated Client Services team offers support to the men staying at The Ottawa Mission – some for the first time. One of the team members residents may meet is Jordanna Marchand, The Mission’s Coordinator of Mental Health Services. Jordanna works closely with our community partner agencies who specialize in mental health services: an outreach nurse and psychiatrist from The Royal Ottawa Hospital, and an onsite case manager from the Canadian Mental Health Association.

As well, she liaises with community mental health workers in order to support mutual clients’ respective plans of recovery, especially the Ottawa Homeless. Jordanna and others on the Client Services team work toward reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness. Jordanna has become a certified Mental Health First Aid trainer, and delivers the course to other staff at The Ottawa Mission several times during the year. Another one of her roles is to reach out to residents and assess their needs and state of mental health and wellness.

If they are struggling, Jordanna will connect them with the appropriate resources. “I strive to connect each client that comes through our doors with the supports and resources necessary for them to experience wellness,” she says. “And it’s my goal to do so while practicing compassion, promoting empowerment, and respecting choice.”
