How We Help
There are many ways that our services provide hope to people in our community who need it most. You can see it in the stories in our newsletters about people we’ve helped, or by coming down to the shelter to see in person how your support helps men in need at our shelter. The Ottawa Mission began as a place that offered a safe bed and a meal, and was and still is one of the largest shelters for men. It still offers that, and much more. It has evolved into a place that offers services and programs that address the ever-changing needs and different backgrounds, of people who are homeless.
Those who use The Ottawa Mission can rely on a warm place to sleep, nutritious meals every day, clothing, and clean shower facilities. We also offer addiction treatment programs, medical and dental care, education support, job training in our kitchen and housing support to those who are committed to turning their lives around. For those with terminal illnesses, we offer care and compassion in our Hospice. And for anyone who needs it, there is always a Chaplain with an open door who can offer spiritual support.
Success takes many forms at The Ottawa Mission – for those suffering from an addiction it might mean a single day, week or month of sobriety; for someone with a mental illness, it might mean finding the right medication; for someone out of work, it might mean learning how to put together a good resume; for someone who is alone and dying, it might mean reconnecting with a family member.
Thanks to our generous donors, The Ottawa Mission is able to offer life-changing programs and services to those in need.
