Giving what’s needed

Because we run a facility that shelters an average of 230 people every night, it’s no surprise that we go through a lot of everyday items. The Ottawa Mission depends on donations of goods from people in the community to help keep expenses down. Men’s clothing and men’s toiletries usually top our list of needed items.

HowtoHelp-Goods

Because of a lack of storage space, we do not accept any donations of household items like appliances or furniture at The Ottawa Mission.

Seasonal clothing helps many people

At The Ottawa Mission, there’s demand for men’s clothing throughout the year. In the summer months items like t-shirts, shorts, sandals and ball caps are needed – and in the winter, we ask for donations of wool socks, winter gloves, winter coats, winter boots, and long underwear.

While we only accept donations of new underwear, other gently used clothing items are appreciated as long as they are not damaged or in need of repair. Unfortunately, we don’t have the manpower to fix clothes, so damaged items have to be thrown out.

Please note that we only accept and distribute men’s clothing – other clothing donations can be made to women’s shelters in the community such as Cornerstone, Interval House, and Harmony House.
