The Blue Door

35 Waller Street
The blue door at 35 Waller is always open to people who are homeless, hungry and hurting. Every day, hundreds of people step inside our door in search of food and shelter, and find the help they need to change their lives.

GALA COMMITTEE CO-CHAIRS

If you had to name Ottawa's most famous practicing lawyer, it would probably be Lawrence Greenspon, a criminal defence and civil litigation lawyer with an undeniable soft spot for the underdog.

He's well known, not only for the work he does in the justice system but for what he accomplishes beyond the walls of 161 Elgin St. With his endless energy, he’s chaired fundraising campaigns, sold off live auction prizes at galas galore and has risked making a fool of himself for charity, from ballroom dancing to boxing.

Award-winning businesswoman Sheila Whyte would have made a great publicist, given her skill at promoting others while staying behind the scenes running Thyme & Again Creative Catering and Take Home Food Shop.

“Sheila understands as a business leader that it’s not just about the bottom line. Her contributions to the arts community, to charities, to philanthropy are legendary and set a gold standard for other businesses.” - Mayor Jim Watson.

Michael Moffatt – longtime executive chef and partner in the acclaimed Beckta, Play food & wine and Gezellig restaurants now heads up operations at Thyme & Again.

Sheila Whyte and Michael have a long history of working together in the community at events ranging from Canada’s Table open-air dining to the Great Canadian Theatre Company pop-up dinners to the Celebrity Chefs Night at Algonquin College, where Moffatt graduated from the culinary management program.
